Kayaking With Its Variations in Kayaks: When naming all possible water sports one can never miss out on the renowned sport called the Kayaking, where the kayak which is a kind of the boats is used to move across the water. This sport in many places is also known as paddling. Many might wonder the difference between canoeing and kayaking, well the only two distinguishing factors are the number of blades placed on the paddle and the position in which the paddler sits.
The sitting position of the paddlers for Kayaking is defined by the world sanctioning body known as International Canoe Federation, where it states that the paddler sitting in the kayak have its legs placed in the forward direction and so is the face, also using a paddle with double blades.
Though the kayak where the paddler has to sit on top is gaining more popularity, yet the patent style is the one where the kayaks have a closed deck. The kayak which does not have decks, they are inflatable and air chambers surround the entire boat. On the basis of their usage the kayak for kayaking is classified.
In total one can come across eight different kinds of kayak which are surf, slalom, light touring or day tripping, general recreation, polo, touring or expedition, sprint or racing and whitewater. On the basis of further uses these kayaks can be categories into sub classes. For instance, a kayak that is being used for fishing purposes is a kind of general recreation kayak but it has the fishing accessories fitted to it and hence it is also termed as the fishing kayak. A kind used for kayaking and falling under the whitewater kayak is the creek kayak. This kind is specially designed to get across water falls and also through the narrows gully type of waters.
