Field Hockey and Equipment: Field Hockey which is much well known to common man as hockey is a sport meant for having two team on the field where in one team a total of sixteen players can exist out of which only eleven players are allowed to be on the field at one time. The field hockey is very much similar to any other field game none to mankind. It involves continues pushing, hitting or even flicking a ball with the motive of throwing it into the opponent teams goal using their hockey sticks and hence winning points for the team. The name field hockey had generated in countries that had more then one kind of hockey being played their. The other forms in hockey are street hockey and ice hockey.
The equipments that are required to play a professional game of field hockey are mentioned below. The most essential is the hockey stick which is carried by every player. This stick is usually of a height of maximum thirty six to thirty seven inches long and was traditionally made of wood. In the recent years these sticks are being made up of carbon fibre composites, fibre glass and kevlar to make it long lasting and the handle is partly rounded and on the left side it is flattened to make the grip of the field hockey players stronger. The bottom of the stick has a hook like feature and metals have been barred from being used for these sticks.
The field hockey ball is made out of hard plastic and is spherical in shape. This ball is also given a covering of indentations which deducts the content of hydroplaning and hence the unwanted speed of the ball on wet surfaces can be easily controlled. There are other safe guards that should be worn by the players during the games to avoid injuries.
