Air Hockey Is Not Exactly Played In Air: Gaming parlours have been a favourite place to hang out in for the growing kids. It is a world of fancy that involves a lot of excitement and there are also cool prizes kept in stock to be won. But these parlours even have games that could be played by the elders too who are accompanying the little ones. Air hockey is one such game that always manages to catch the attention of the grown up kids. Air hockey is an indoor game that is played on table between two players who are trying to score points in the competitor’s goal.
The basic requirements for a game of air hockey are the most essential air-hockey table, a puck and two players holding one mallet each. To describe the air hockey table, it comprises of a large and smooth or slippery surface for being played on. The table also has a rail surrounding it in order to avoid the puck from falling of the table when it is hit upon with force by the mallets. Anthe most important is the slots on either sides of the rail are made where the players are expected to make goals. There is a puck return chamber created at the ends of the table, right behind as well as below the goal slots.
In order to cut down on the friction and to increase the speed of the game, the air hockey tables are newly modified and the now have a machine fixed to the table and through the tiny holes made on the table, cushion of air is let out on the surface by these machineries. Technically if one notices, that these are not exactly an air hockey table as there is no scene of hockey being played in the air, yet it is still termed as so because they hold similarities with the actual game.
