Facing the Rochester Red Wings at the McCoy Stadium the Pawtucket Red Sox fought a 33 inning battle before outplaying the Rochester Red Wings. The match started as scheduled on the 18th of April, 1981 but had to be stopped at 4:07 a.m. at the end of the 32nd inning. Neither of the teams would yield and it still remains one of the most exciting matches to watch in the history of professional baseball.
The game however did not resume until the 23rd of June when the Rochester Red Wings came back to Pawtucket. The Pawtucket Red Sox defeated the Rochester Red Wings in only one innings more with a final score of 3-2.
The Pawtucket Red Sox have two mascots Paw who is male and Sox who is female. They are a major attraction to baseball fans all over Rhode Island. The Pawtucket Red Sox gets its name from the City of Pawtucket and is loyally supported by its people.

Formed in 2002 the Pensacola Pelicans was the team representing the Pensacola area. The Southeastern League decided to incorporate a team representing the Pensacola area and this was when the Pensacola Pelicans came to be. 2002 was a very good season for the Pelicans; they won the championship against Montgomery Wings and had the best record in the league. Midway through the 2002 season the Pensacola Pelicans was bought by Quint and Rishy Studer. The James Gamble Commission had approved this purchase.
2003 was also a very successful year for the Pensacola Pelicans; they had the best league record for 2 consecutive years however they lost the championship to Baton Rouge Riverbats in a closely fought contest.
2004 was a year of set-backs for the Pensacola Pelicans. The Southeaster League lost a major franchise and was folded. Thus the Pelicans were left without a league to play in. The owner Quint Studer purchased a spot in the Central Baseball League which too was folded in the following year.
Finally the Pensacola Pelicans got a spot in American Association of Independent Professional Baseball in 2005 and has been steady ever since.

Till 1955 from the age of 17 he served for the United States Marine Corps in Korea, returning to work for sab Fransisco golf club.
